A little history:

Rebbe Nachman's main teaching on Tikkun HaKlali was given on the occasion of the holidays of Shavuot in 1806. However, he did not reveal the specific ten psalms of Tikkun HaKlali until April 1810.

Rebbe Nachman said, "Testify to my words, when my days are over and I leave this world, I will always intercede for anyone who comes to my grave, says these ten Psalms, and donates a penny to charity. I will do whatever which is in my power, to purify and protect it.

There is a specific remedy for each sin, but it is THE general remedy is The Tikun HaKlali.

Rabbi Nachman also taught that Tikkun HaKlali can rectify all physical and spiritual defects or illnesses.
