Bring light and color into your home as you continue the tradition of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah with this modern Hanukkah. An original creation made up of nine candlesticks in the colors of the Rainbow.

The candle holder for Shamash sits in the center of this beautiful Hanukkah Menorah.

On its base is fixed a top, for a design recalling this tradition of the game of the top.

A bit of history - Hanukkah or the story of a temple and a flask of oil
Unlike Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Shabbat or Passover which are biblical holidays, Hanukkah is a holiday established by the Talmud .
In the 2nd century, the Syrian dynasty of the Seleucids occupied Judea and prohibited the Jews from practicing their religion.
The Jewish army of the Maccabees, small but determined, defeats the enemy troops, reconquers Jerusalem, destroys the altar desecrated by the sacrifices made to the Greek gods and builds a new altar in the temple.
According to Jewish tradition , the Hanukkah holiday commemorates the victory of the transmission of Judaism against this attempt at forced acculturation.

Hanukkah , which means “inauguration” in Hebrew, helps Jews remember the re-inauguration of the Temple in Jerusalem after the Jewish family of Maccabees succeeded in liberating the Holy City.
The Talmud tells that during the purification of the Temple, among the rubble, the Maccabees discovered an untouched vial of holy oil. They decide to use it to relight the seven branch candlestick. Against all odds, this vial, which was supposed to last only a few hours, finally allowed them to keep the Menorah lit for eight days: it is this miracle that Hanukkah commemorates.
