In Jewish folklore, this proverb is associated with the Great King Solomon, the wisest man of all and who thus demonstrated his great humility.
According to tradition, King Solomon wore a ring bearing this inscription. When the King was sad, he would look at the ring on which were inscribed the words "This Shall Pass", then he would turn it over and read the other inscription which read "This too shall pass" (gam ze ya'avor).
Inspired by this story, Kabbalistic jewelers have inscribed this mythical phrase on this magnificent ring.
